Qualifications
Yvonne Karn ASA has been actively appraising personal property, conducting sales and brokering personal property since 1975.
She established her firm in 1970 and actively conducts estate sales, brokers fine art and antiques to auction and accepts consignments of California Plein Air paintings, French Antiques, Antique Silver and Porcelains.
As a Generalist, Yvonne has in-depth training and experience in many fields including, but not limited to: General Residential Contents, Celebrity Properties, French Furniture, Bronzes, French Porcelains, Silver, Ceramics, and Collections.
She prepares expert appraisals for insurance, charitable contributions, dissolution, and IRS 706 filing, trusts, estates, loss claims, fraud, tax issues and disputes.
Yvonne is a Senior Member of the American Society of Appraisers (ASA) which is the oldest and only major appraisal organization representing all of the disciplines of appraisal specialists.
American Society of Appraisers maintains strict mandatory continuing education and re-certification requirements for its members. Every five years, their appraisers must re-certify and complete a USPAP course update and exam. The Uniform Standards of Appraisal Practice (USPAP) were established by the federal government in 1987. USPAP was originally written in 1986-87 by an ad-hoc committee representing the various appraisal professional organizations in the U.S. and Canada. Yvonne is in compliance with the requirements of the American Society of Appraisers mandatory re-accreditation program for all of its members.
As a member of American Society of Appraisers, Yvonne has served as a Board Member of the International Personal Property Board, Education Chair and as an instructor for the American Society of Appraisers ‘Principles of Valuation Courses’ during which she taught at George Washington University, University of Missouri in Kansas City, as well as, cities throughout the United States.
In 1997, Yvonne received a Certificate of Appreciation from American Society of Appraisers for her exemplary service, integrity and untiring efforts in the Rewriting of the Principles of Valuation Course Personal Property 202. The rewriting of the course took two years of meticulous work and is now being taught at University of California Irvine and other universities throughout United States.
Yvonne’s appraisal assignments have taken her across United States and Europe. Her last international assignment was in Paris, France.
As a member of Rotary International, the National Auctioneers Association and the Association of Art Historians, Yvonne has access to many expert specialists and appraisers.




Yvonne is a personal property appraiser of Residential Contents tested and accredited by the American Society of Appraisers.Additionally, she has extensive knowledge and specializes in: 19th/20th Century French Antiques, California Plein Air Painting, Celebrity Properties, Collections, Fine Art, Antique Furniture, Silver, Glass, Porcelain, and Pottery.
